Extruded Snack Production Line

Our customer wanted to extend portfolio and build a production line with capacity of 2,5t/h of pocket cereal snacks for breakfast filled with chocolate. Scope of project consisted of providing engineering design of line starting from inbound extension, dosing of raw materials, batch assembling, extruding and drying. After drier product was linked with existing storage and packing. Project included building extension, platform and construction design, process equipment selection, infrastructure adaptation and utilities connection. As the customer operated only with limited technical staff project was expected to be fully outsourced to external company. FIDES was responsible to manage entire project from design to commissioning.

FIDES used PMP tools and techniques for project management and created matrix organization within team. Project Manager was responsible for supervision of scope, creation of schedule and budget. Design office played a role in developing layouts, construction, electrical&controls drawings and utilities routing. After validation with customer Project Engineer was assigned to start building a line with support of Construction Site Inspector. Project Manager controls equipment orders and acceptance tests to avoid unpleasant suprises during comissioning. Trade contractors under direction of Project Engineer and with supervision and support of FIDES Safety Coordinator deal with mechanical and electrical installation. In this case Process Technologist with Project Engineer started to commission line. During that time first customer staff training was performed and shortly after learning curve begin. Project Engineer overlooked daily operation until production wass ready to be handovered to customer. All documentation and maintenance lists were passed to site with project closure.
