Case Packing
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED
Client decided to carry out the investment and buy devices for automatic packaging of unit packages in collective packaging. Process consisted of stacking 60 packs in a layer, 5 layers in a carton. The challenge was the small space available.
Main assumptions:
- Product dimensions: 500x200x300 mm
- Weight: 0.5 kg
- Capacity: 1 packet / second
PROPOSED DESIGN
The challenge for the FIDES team was to find a solution that would efficiently support the existing production line whit limited footprint.
FIDES engineers after analyzing the data and internal workshop proposed a solution based on collaborative robot. Main benefits was saved space for fencing and the required safety distance for solutions based on industrial robots while maintaining safety standards. The Case Packing station collected 10 products each, and then, using collaborative robot and pneumatic gripper, arranged rows in carton.
Deliverables:
- Process description,
- Technical datasheet,
- List of proposed suppliers,
- Layouts fitting into available production hall space,
- Budget estimates,
- Timeline for implementation.
